9:30 a.m. 2nd Destination: The Western Monastery

After we had the tour of the Yuen Yuen Institute, we will go the nearby Western Monastery.

Founded in 1970, the Western Monastery is one of the famous monasteries in the district. The buildings in the Monastery are modelled on the Chinese palace. As the tourists walk around in the Monastery, they must be surprised that how gorgeous the buildings are. Inside the Monastery, there are many beautiful statues of Kwan Yin and the Buddha. 

One of the special buildings inside the Monastery is the nine-storeyed Millions Buddha Tower. The base of the tower is modelled on the tower at Moon Sun Lake in Taiwan. A very famous scripture of the Buddhism, Vajra Sutra (金剛經) is engraved on the sides of the base.
